Continental Club
1315 South Congress Avenue
Austin, TX 78704
(512) 441-2444

This is a great venue for live music.  Not too much a dive just a place where people have a great time.  They do an annual Elvis birthday celebration that features some of the best local bands in the city that should not be missed.

Mean Eyed Cat was named after the Johnny Cash song.  You can catch cool local bands performing on the patio out back sometimes they even have rockabillish musicians.  The place is beer only but they serve them up ice cold.

Clermont Lounge

789 Ponce De Leon Avenue Northeast
Atlanta, GA 30306
(404) 874-4783

If you read the review on yelp they said that if John Water’s was a bar this is it.  It is known as a place where strippers hang out to party and get drunk so if you like strippers and don’t pick them up at work give  the Clermont a try.

The Highlander

The Highlander

931 Monroe Drive

Atlanta, GA 30308

404-872-0060

My buddy who lives in Atlanta and knows how to party told me this is his favorite place.  He also used to be a bar manager so I trust his opinion.  This joint has trivia night. The highlander caters to the punk/artsy scene that the early 80′s brought us. Great food, fantastic music, and a kick ass atmosphere.

Located in the Buckhead district in Atlanta  this is the spot.  The area is known for being the place to go for dive bars.  So shoot some pool and check out some of the other local dives.  They have 5 pool tables and free peanuts.

The Jackalope

The Jackalope

404 East 6th Street
Austin, TX 78701 – (512) 472-3663

Austin’s: King of daytime drinking
Happy Hour every day11:30 am til 7pm
$2.50 pints & well drinks.
42 bottled beers and 14 drafts.

The Jackalope is located in the heart of Austin’s downtown on 6 Street.  On weekends traffic is blocked off to handle the crowds.  This bar is know as a hangout for Roller Derby Girls.  If there isn’t a Derby broad behind the bar you can almost always find one drinking a beer.  This is an alt culture type of place with great music and a mixed crowd.

If you want to smoke no problem at the Jackalope.  They also have a very cool patio refered to as The cucaracha. You might as well know that it translates to CockRoch.  So if you want a true dive go out to the back patio otherwise known as  the Roch.
